text 28 Jun 14 notes Cleanse, day three

Wow.  I can’t tell you how glad I am that it’s almost over. Final thoughts…

  • First to answer all the why are you doing this? questions.  A main reason is I wanted to see if I could. I have very little self control and don’t deny myself much of anything, especially when it comes to food and drink.  I was feeling out of sorts and  repeated efforts to eat healthy and drink less just weren’t working. When you start reading about cleansing the phrase “hit the reset button” comes up constantly. That’s just what I needed to do.  I was in a salt, sugar, carb, fat, alcohol cycle that was getting out of control. I was feeling unhealthy and thought intense measures might be called for.
  • Did I lose weight?   I’m not sure, as I don’t own scales.  I gauge my weight by how my clothes fit and I assume I lost a few pounds.  I’m sure it’s water weight and won’t stay off.  So yeah, I’m glad to have a flatter stomach for a few days, but that was not the reason for cleansing.
  • The juices were all really good.  I’ll be stopping in Organic Avenue regularly.
  • This was a perfect week to do this because I had no social obligations and M was working every night, so I could just hide out and avoid temptation.  I never have down time like this. The introspection it provided was a nice side benefit of the cleanse.  It’s been a week of meditation, lavender baths, candles, white cotton nightgowns.  I feel calm and peaceful.
  • Would I do it again? Probably not. I might do some combination of juicing and raw food, but not liquid only.  I like eating way too much.  And the 48 hour headache has done me in. I felt like crying most of today and had trouble focusing. I came home from work and put a peppermint oil towel and an ice pack on my head. Caffeine, you win.  I’m definitely having coffee tomorrow.
