La Pizza Fresca Ristorante →
One of the very nice things about the class I took this week is that I was 4 blocks away from Michael’s office, so I had a lunch date every day. Today we went to Pizza Fresca on East 20th. They make Neapolitan style pizza. I had this one: Monte Bianco- Robiola, Parmigiano and Fontina cheeses with Porcini mushrooms and Prosciutto San Daniele. M had the pasta...
Head Song for Thursday- The Nancy Wilson version of “A Lot of Livin’ To Do.” Maybe my head is sending me a message!
I accidentally left my phone at home! I’m sort of freaking out. Maybe it will be good for me to go without texting for a whole day.
Today's head song
Pixies “Here Comes Your Man”
A vast improvement…
I've got class
In a photoshop class for the next three days…not so much with the manic posting.
Me: Today's head song is "Don't Ask Me Why" by Billy Joel
M: Arggh. That's horrible!
Me: I know. My head has the worst taste in songs.

Umm… I found this right after our meat-fest. Yikes.
a happy ending →
It’s about rescued dogs…get your mind out of the gutter.
The Momofukus →
Last night we went to Momofuku Noodle Bar. Like everyone else in NYC right now, we are devotees of Ssam Bar, but thought we should try Noodle Bar’s new location. Everything was great, but I definitely like the atmosphere at Ssam better.

One Step Beyond at MNH
Looks like this is on for tonight! Good thing it’s close to home, because it’s going to be FREEZING. I don’t think I’m up to venturing more than 2 blocks away.
I’m going to die of barfness.

Ha
I was checking out at PC Richard (camera!) and “Superman dat Ho” came on. It was all I could do not to a) crack up and b) start dancing. If you need to kill some time, go to youtube and check out all the people who have posted video of themselves doing that dance. I swear I watched it for a half hour one night. (maybe I shouldn’t have admitted that.)
Dinner
Rack and Soul must not have gotten the southern food craving entirely out of my system. Tonight I made pork chops, collard greens and buttermilk smashed potatoes. There would be a photo, but M left the camera at work. We clearly are going to have to turn into a two camera family.
It's snowing!
Now I have to stand at my office window the rest of the day and watch it. I hope it sticks! update: It totally quit snowing right after I posted that.
The Mermaid Inn
Last night went to the upper west side location of The Mermaid Inn, at the behest of Peggie. She ate there Friday and adored it. Everyone is so excited that some “downtown” type restaurants are opening up here, but it seems that excitement oftentimes translates into a place getting better word-of-mouth buzz than it deserves. We are frequently disappointed in restaurants we heard were...

New (to me) Band
We did go the Rosebuds last night in Williamsburg. One of the opening bands was Tigercity. So much fun! The lead singer has that Freddie Mercury stage presence that I adore. Sort of an 80’s vibe- but with a glimmer of the Bee Gees in their falsettos. I danced my ass off! They are playing at Mercury Lounge at the end of February. Can’t wait. (Also-people in Austin- they are at...

Adam Roberts is one of my favorite food bloggers. His post today about not having a microwave sums up my views on the subject.
